In these circumstances, an organisation would be best served if it could 'buy in' the skills and the structures which might make adaptation possible. If the organisation was to absorb, combine with, and/or render marginal any, or all, rivals in the field, it might be able to protect its future. It would need to gather in the necessary resources and expertise to survive the transition in a revamped shape with revitalised energies and policies that could handle the next challenges. The best way forward would be for a complex organisation to be set up by forming a federation with other organisations, or even taking over direct control through mutual agreement. In a process like this, the advice and talents of the professional development worker will continue to be central.
